Roker's Rant Ruffles NBC Suits

When Al Roker went on his Ryan Lochte rant, FTVLive was thinking, good for him, nice to see a guy stand up and say what's on his mind.

Roker's exchange with new Today Show Anchor Billy Bush turned testy, when Roker, talking about lying Lochte said, "“He lied. He lied to you, he lied to Matt Lauer, he lied to his mom, [and] he left his teammates hanging while he skedaddled.’’

Now Page Six says that the NBC suits were not happy with Roker's rant.

Page Six says that “Today” executives and on-air talent — already struggling to cover the story while managing relationships with the US Olympic Committee and individual athletes — tried to smooth things over.

“There were several producers and talent who were left trying to explain Al’s over-the-top behavior,” said a source. “Several insiders found themselves wanting to distance themselves from his response.”

NBC denies the gossip column's report.

Also, I for one did not think that Roker's behavior was anywhere near, "over-the-top."

Roker said what many Americans were thinking and he didn't worry about the IOC and their relationship with his network.

We stand with Al on this one.

New details about the scandal surrounding Ryan Lochte and three other U.S. Olympic swimmers draw Al Roker, Natalie Morales and Billy Bush into a sometimes heated discussion about Lochte's intentions and what he should do next. Al says flatly that Lochte "lied" and "left his teammates hanging," and Natalie thinks he owes the people of Brazil an apology.
