Just before air time, WIS in Columbia, SC took a lightning hit that crashed the weather computer.
But, the station was still able to get a forecast on the air and it looked pretty good.
So, how did they do it with no weather computer?
The weather team turned to their iPad and Apple TV to put the forecast on the air. All the evening newscasts Friday were done with the weather app on an iPad through Apple TV and displayed on a smart wall.
In ended up working well and it shows how when technology craps out, a different technology can save you.
