EXCLUSIVE: WNBC Anchor To Leave for Fox News

OK this one is supposed to be hush-hush, so don't say anything just yet. OK?

Sources tell FTVLive that WNBC Anchor Rob Schmitt is leaving the station and headed to Fox News Channel.

Schmitt joined WNBC 3 years ago and as his contract expires, he is making the jump to the cable news world.

Schmitt will be joining Fox News as a Weekend Anchor and General Assignment Reporter based in New York.

Schmitt came to WNBC in July of 2013 from CBS's KCAL/KCBS where he had worked for two years. Before that he was at WPLG in Miami.

At WNBC, Schmitt anchored the Noon newscast and worked as a Reporter.

WNBC is expected to announce that Schmitt is leaving the station later this week. Of course, that will now be moved up a bit, because of this story.

Oopsy....
