Buffalo Station Adds 2 to On Air Staff

Scripps owned WKBW has hired two new Reporters.

Thuy Lan Nguyen arrives June 13 from KERO 23 ABC in Bakersfield, Calif. She was part of a Scripps recruitment program that was aligned with the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University, where she graduated.

The station also hired Elizabeth Lewin, who several years ago worked as a freelancer at WKBW and has been a communication specialist in Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown’s office.

She starts her MMJ job on June 6th.

“It is critical that our on-air staff reflect the diversity of the market,” said WKBW General Manager Michael Nurse. “Both will make immediate and lasting positive impact on our storytelling.”

Plus they are young and cheap, Nurse did not add but most likely could have.

WKBW has been trying to rise from the ashes under Scripps after the station was flown into the ground by Granite Broadcasting and GM Bill Ransom.

So far the station remains in deep last place.
