Stations are adding newscasts as fast as they can to try and get their hands on all the political dollars that will be floating around in 2016.
Don't forget to check back with FTVLive in 2017, when you will see stations dropping newscasts just as fast.
But, right now it's like gold rush and stations know that they more ad spots they have available, the more money they will make.
The latest to add a newscast is KTVI in St. Louis.
The Fox affiliate is adding an 11PM newscast beginning January 18th. The half-hour newscast will be anchored by Shirley Washington and Jasmine Huda (Pictured). Meteorologist Chris Higgins will anchor weather, and Charlie Marlow will have the nightly sports wrap-up.
“With the responsibility of producing over 80 hours of news content each week, it is imperative to have strong reporters and anchors,” said Spencer Koch, President/General Manager for FOX 2 & KPLR 11. He continued, “Like Shirley, Jasmine Huda more than fits both roles. She’s smart, a solid investigative reporter and a strong communicator. With these attributes, we are proud to have Jasmine join Shirley to launch FOX 2 News at 11.”
“We are finding that news viewers of all ages have very different lifestyles, but the one constant is their appetite for local news, whether it’s before sunrise or late at night,” said Koch. “With the continued shift in viewing patterns and content consumption, news viewers of websites, Facebook, and Twitter will have another option to receive all the major news stories of the day.”
Yeah... that's why they are doing it.
