WVLA (Baton Rouge) reporter Derek Myers says he was fired from the station, for doing his job. Myers confronted U.S. Senator and Gubernatorial candidate David Vitter about whether or not he was hiring prostitutes?
Vitter was walking through a parking lot with his wife, when Myers confronted him. Myers was fired by the station the same day. He claims his termination was due to the Vitter campaign threatening to pull their ads from the station.
The Vitter campaign said they never contacted the station. WVLA GM Jim Baronet said no one from the campaign contacted the station and company personnel rules prohibit him from discussing why Myers was fired.
It hasn't been a good run for Myers. He'd only been at WVLA for three weeks, after being fired from his reporting job at WCJB in Gainesville.
