When WLS in Chicago was able to hire Weather Anchor Cheryl Scott away from WMAQ, in meant the station had to make room for her.
So, after 21 years, WLS blew out Weather Anchor Mike Caplan to make room for Scott. “The powers that be have decided to take the weather department in a direction that no longer includes me,” Caplan wrote on Facebook back in January.
Well, after sitting out a year on the beach, Caplan has returned to the air in Chicago. He was introduced as the new Weatherman at Fox O&O WFLD in Chicago.
And.....if you thought that a Chicago station is too big a market to do hokey introductions, then you would be wrong.
Watch the behind the scenes video of how the station introduced Caplan to viewers. If you ahve just eaten, you might want to wait a half hour before watching.
Surprise!! We've got a new WEATHER PERSON Fox 32 Chicago. Say hello and please welcome Mike Caplan to Good Day Chicago. It was a big secret until this morning at 7. Check it out☃🌨🌦Posted by Darlene Hill Fox 32 Chicago on Monday, December 28, 2015
