Motown Anchor to Go Under the Knife

A Detroit Anchor will miss a couple of weeks of work as she has surgery on her lip.

WXYZ Anchor Alicia Smith opened up on the air yesterday about a recent health struggle she has been battling (she knows ratings is over right?)/

Smith was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma, the most common type of skin cancer. Millions of people are diagnosed with it every year.

Smith says the cancer showed up a few years ago as a tiny bump above her upper lip.

She will be having surgery on Tuesday and will be off for a couple weeks while she recovers from the procedure.
