San Antonio Station Replenishes Anchor Team

After a steady string of anchor departures at San Antonio Fox affiliate KABB, the station is beginning to rebuild its news teams with fresh faces.

The latest hire is out of Harlingen, Texas: Ryan Wolf. Wolf will anchor KABB’s signature 9 p.m. newscast next to anchorwoman Elisa Amigo, also a relatively new hire, on February 3, according to a KABB/WOAI spokesman.

He’ll succeed Mike Valdes, a 20-year station veteran, who left TV News in September.

Prior to joining the S.A. station, Wolf anchored late news broadcasts at KBGT in Harlingen, which like KABB is in Sinclair food chain.

“We are very excited to have Ryan join our team,” said News Director Blaise Labbe.  “Sinclair has made a commitment to retain and promote talent within our company.  This opportunity afforded Ryan the ability to advance to a larger market and continue his career with the same company. For Fox San Antonio, we are getting a loyal Sinclair employee who happens to be an outstanding journalist.”
