ABC Goes Out as the Winner in 2014

ABC won the New Year's Eve party ratings with their long titled special "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest 2014."

The three-hour telecast averaged 9.6 million viewers.

The broadcast competition: NBC with 4.9 million, CBS with 4.7 million for reruns, Fox with 2.2 million for "Pitbull's New Year's Revolution" and The CW with 1 million for the "iHeartRadio Music Festival."

ABC's coverage grew from 7 million at 8 p.m. to 9.1 million at 9 p.m. to 12.8 million at 10.

NBC countered with a news special toasting the old year (5.4 million viewers) and the two-hour "New Year's Eve With Carson Daly" (5.2 million).

When it was time to usher in 2015 on the East Coast, ABC had the edge there, too, according to preliminary numbers.

ABC scored a 10.7 household rating from 11:30 p.m. to 1:15 a.m. NBC put up a 4.9 household rating from 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. And Fox posted a 2.6 household rating from 11 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

In the 18-to-49 age group, ABC scored a 7.3 to NBC's 3.1 and Fox's 2.2.
