Leave it to the folks in California to come up with another genius idea. Governor Jerry Brown signed into law a bill that requires any smartphone manufactured after June 2015 sold in California to include a feature that can make the device inoperable.
The Bill was supposed to be an anti-theft measure to allow someone to disable their device if stolen. (If you're an Apple disciple, you already know about 'Find My iPhone)
But what if the police decide they don't like coverage of a story? What if the Sheriff's department decides it's in the public's best interest to prohibit photos or videos from a volatile scene? Can they hit the 'kill switch' on your phone?
