Ginger Zee to do Deadliest Catch

ABC Meteorologist and storm casher Ginger Zee is will join the cast and crew of Discovery channel’s “Deadliest Catch.” She’ll pitch and roll through the some of the most dangerous weather in the world.

For two days she’ll be living on a crab-fishing boat in the middle of the Bering Sea, way up north near the Arctic . During that time, Zee expects to ride out 20-foot waves, unpredictable weather, subzero temperatures and the constant specter of death.

“It sounds pretty awesome, doesn’t it?” she says with a smile. “The only thing I’m really worried about is getting seasick.”

The NY Daily News says that Zee will join the crew of the family-owned Northwestern, a 125-foot fishing ship. She’ll spend time with Mandy Hansen, the first female crew member to be featured on “Deadliest Catch.”

Hansen’s father, Sig, is the captain. The Hansens are among a handful of hardy sailors who do what is widely acknowleged as one of the world’s most dangerous jobs.

“I can’t wait,” Zee told us. “It’s going to be incredible.”
