Santa was Good to Orlando Stations

The December ratings in O-Town gives every station a chance to claim they are Number 1.

The Orlando Sentinel says that in December ratings for local news WESH-Channel 2 was first at 4 p.m., WKMG-Channel 6 was tops at noon, and WOFL-Channel 35 dominated 10 p.m.

But WFTV-Channel 9 won most other contested races. The ABC affiliate showed its strength in early morning, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and at 11 p.m.

The results for the ratings period, which ended Wednesday, contained no major surprises.

WFTV was first at 11 p.m., whether the race was counted Monday-Friday or on a seven-day-a-week basis. WESH was second on the Monday-Sunday count, and WKMG was second Monday-Sunday.

All these races, unless otherwise noted, reflect the 25-to-54 age group, which is most important to news advertisers. In the Monday-Friday count at 11 p.m., WFTV averaged 35,600 viewers to WESH's 25,800, WKMG's 24,900 and WOFL's 14,600.
