Veteran WICU (Erie) news anchor Kevin MacDowell is not having a very good week.

The Anchor has been bumped down the food chain and reassigned by the station's management as a lowly Reporter.

"It was time to make the move," said WICU GM Pam Forsyth said Wednesday. "Kevin is still a respected employee here."

MacDowell will "return to reporting" and provide the station with "in-depth, investigative stories that will affect the people of this community," Forsyth said.

Sports anchor Mike Ruzzi  is moving over a seat to replace MacDowell.

MacDowell was "on vacation" and not at the station when Forsyth told the staff about the reassignments at a meeting Wednesday. He could not be reached for comment.

According to his bio, MacDowell has been in television news for more than 20 years and  worked at stations in Minneapolis and Miami.

The GM added that along with reporting MacDowell also will be a mentor in the newsroom.

We're guessing he'll mentor the younger staffers on how work you're way down the TV career ladder.
