Robin Roberts posted a message on her Facebook page to her Mom that she lost about 9 months ago.

Last year, Roberts was diagnosed with MDS, a rare blood and bone marrow disorder. She announced that she would take medical leave and undergo treatment for MDS, which included receiving a bone marrow transplant from her sister, Sally Ann. Days before the transplant, Roberts' mother, Lucimarian Roberts died at the age of 88.

Roberts posted a message to her mom on her Facebook wall. Roberts and her mother wrote a book together, which came out about one year ago. The "Good Morning America" host posted a photograph of her and her mother at their book party.

Dear Mom,

I miss you every day. Especially today as we celebrate our moms, and mother figures in our lives.

This is my first Mother's Day without you. It hurts so much. But I remember something you said after daddy died: "You have a choice. You can have sad sorrow or happy sorrow". I'm going to follow your advice and choose the latter.

I'm not sure if you ever saw this picture. It was taken last Spring before your book party that the wonderful people at Upper Room hosted. Family and friends traveled near and far to honor you. I vividly recall you beaming as your daughter, Dorothy, beautifully sang the title of your book. This is MY STORY, this is MY SONG. Cousin Steven flawlessly accompanied Dorothy on the piano. Happy sorrow.

Momma, Happy Mother's Day to you and all the moms in heaven, as you smile down on your children today and every day.

Forever your baby girl,
