Here's something you don't see that often.
A reporter is bumped up to Assistant News Director. More rare, it's happening in the larger market of Pittsburgh.
WTAE has named longtime Investigative Reporter Jim Parsons as the new Deuce at the station. Parsons had been the station's investigative reporter since 1998.
“Jim is a highly respected journalist. He knows Pittsburgh and what is important to our TV and digital audience” said WTAE News Director Justin Antoniotti. “He will use this knowledge and the skills he has developed as a great investigative reporter to help ensure WTAE continues providing news coverage that matters for Pittsburgh,” he added.
“I am honored and humbled to be afforded the opportunity to help lead the WTAE newsroom moving forward. Since I arrived at WTAE 15 years ago, I’ve known what a special place this is. I’m aware of its historical significance in our community and the important role it continues to play” said Parsons. “I’m surrounded by great journalists at WTAE, and I know that, working together, we will continue the proud tradition of the past 54 years“ he added.
Come on! Parsons' really knew that the station was 54 years old?! How many of you can just spout off the top of your head, how old your station is? No too many of you right?
That's why we call it the obligatory bullshit quotes.
