Word is that the just out of bankruptcy Tribune Company is looking at WMAQ (Chicago) GM for a top executive role at the company.
Larry Wert has been the General Manager at WMAQ for the past 15 years, but he might make the jump to Tribune.
No word yet on what role he would have at Tribune but it is a sure bet it will be something very high (like the top) of the company's Broadcasting Division.
Wert is downplaying any rumors of him jumping ship. “I have a contract with NBC, and I’m happy here,” said Wert to the Chicago Business Journal.
Tribune owns 23 stations across the country.
