It appears that the Gannett stations are making their websites to look just like their big sister's.
It seems to be starting in the smaller markets and working it's way up. Gannett owned WGRZ in Buffalo has changed up their site, taking on exact look of the USA Today website.
Newscast Studio points out that WGRZ's website is copying from USA Today, including the animations, left and right browsing arrows and fixed, color coded header and navigation bar.
It is likely that after some tweaking you will see the design rolled out at other Gannett stations until they all look virtually the same.
