FTVLive told you back in August that WFOR Weather Anchor David Bernard was going to be leaving the station.
He confirmed the news last night on Facebook:
Announcement: After 20 plus years in local television, I have decided that now is a good time to step away.
I notified CBS over the summer that I would not be signing another contract. My last day will be November 22nd. Now that I have made this difficult decision, I am greatly relieved and couldn't be happier. I'm at the point in my life where a change in career is feasible and I have the time to build whatever that might be. There's a big exciting world out there and I want to see what it has to offer. People in the television news business sacrifice a lot when it comes to friends and family.
A few months ago, I saw my nieces for the first time in a year! I'm fortunate to have the most caring and supportive partner in the world, but arriving home after midnight every night takes its toll too. This is one of the biggest decisions I have ever made. I know there will be difficult times ahead but I've never regretted taking on new opportunities in my life.
However, I have regretted the ones I let pass by. All this being said, I do love meteorology and it would be foolish of me to think I won’t or don’t want to be involved in television going forward. So who knows, you might see me at this again soon! Since I plan on staying in South Florida I will be around and involved in the community. I’d like to thank all of my colleagues at CBS and the many others over the years who have made this long trek so much fun.
Thank you for your support.
Exciting times ahead!
