Pittsburgh sources tell FTVLive that Cox owned WPXI is telling their news staff that it is now mandatory that everybody saturate Twitter with posts to drive up viewership. And it appears that the station is tweeting for them. 

It seems that the consultants have told them this is how to get more viewers. 

The problem?

If viewers follow multiple people at WPXI then they are getting the same tweet over and over again. 

Here's a just a quick example:

The tweets were also posted at the same time, filling up a viewer's timeline if the follow multiple people at WPXI. 

Management thinks this will get them more viewers, but we think it might lead to more than a few "Unfollows" for their talent. 

Just saying...
