CBS Names New News Director in LA

CBS owned KCBS/KCAL has named a new News Director at the LA station.

Tara Finestone, who previously had served as the Assistant News Director at the stations since July 2016, is being bumped up to the chair.

Finestone had been the acting ND, since the station parted ways with Bill Dallman.

“Since joining us two years ago, Tara has done a terrific job of earning the respect of her colleagues and being a key contributor to a cohesive team that consistently delivers high-quality local news coverage,” said GM Steve Mauldin. “Tara also stands out because of her breadth of knowledge and experience in the digital space. She really knows how to use all of our platforms, in both broadcast and digital, to connect with our audience. We look forward to having her make the most of this opportunity to lead our newsroom and continue to make a difference in the communities we serve.”

Finestone assumes her new role with more than 20 years of local and national news experience, including the past 15 years in the Los Angeles market.  Prior to joining CBS 2-KCAL 9, she served as an executive producer at KTLA-TV.  Before that, Finestone was a supervising producer at Current TV.
