Do Babies Equal Ratings?

Not sure if the TV consultants have researched this one or not, but it seems that stations seem to think that babies equal ratings.

Yes, thousands upon thousands of kids are born each and everyday, but when it's a news Anchor's kid, it's a story.

Right?

KYW in Philly made a big deal that their Anchor, Nicole Brewer had a baby in the book (now hurry back to work). 

Down in Houston at KHOU, it seems that just about every person that works in the newsroom either just had a kid or is expecting one soon. 

The station did a story about the big baby boom at the Tegna station.
