Dayton Anchor Heads to Cleveland

WDTN Anchor Katie Ussin bolts from the Nexstar station for Cleveland.

Ussin has been hired by WEWS Channel 5 to be its new "Good Morning Cleveland" co-anchor. She will start at the Cleveland ABC affiliate station in mid-June.

Ussin currently co-anchors multiple newscasts at WDTN Channel 2. Prior to joining the Dayton NBC affiliate five years ago, she worked as a reporter and anchor at KULR in Billings, Montana.

She will co-anchor Channel 5's 4:30 to 7 a.m. newscast with Terrence Lee.

"We're excited to add Katie to our talented and unique team," WEWS news director Jeff Harris said in a statement released Thursday by the station. "She works in Ohio now and is no stranger to Cleveland, so viewers will connect with her right away."

Ussin was in Cleveland for the first Republican primary debate and the Republican National Convention.

"It's all about people," Ussin said. "I've spent so much time in Cleveland covering big stories and amazing people, so I can't wait to get started."
