NBC O&O WTVJ (Miami) has found a new news Anchor for the station.

The SoFlo station says that it reached out to Dallas and hired Johnny Archer as the station's new weekend Anchor.

“Johnny has extensive experience as a news reporter and anchor in several markets throughout the country,” said Migdalia Figueroa, WTVJ’s vice president of news.

Archer comes from KXAS, an NBC sister station in the Dallas-Fort Worth market, where he was a general assignment reporter and weekend anchor.

“I love everything about South Florida, and now I have the wonderful opportunity to report the news about the people and the diverse cultures that make our market so unique,” said Archer, who is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and studied broadcast journalism at Temple University in Philadelphia.

Archer replaces Keith Jones, who became the new weekday afternoon anchor at the station last month. Jones co-anchors the 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. weekday newscasts with Trina Robinson. He also leads Sunday’s 11:30 p.m. sports show, “Sports Final.”
