When it comes to watching TV news, you might be surprised as to which cities consume the most news?

When it comes to mid-size markets, Nielsen says that the top 6 cities watching TV news are Nashville, Tenn.; Fort Myers, Fla.; West Palm Beach, Fla.; Knoxville, Tenn.; Birmingham, Ala.; Norfolk, Va.

In a market like Norfolk, in an average week, an average adult 18 years-plus watches 8.10 hours of local, national and cable news, with cable news the most popular choice at 3.39 hours.

Local news in Norfolk draws that average viewer 2 hours and 49 minutes in an average week.

Nationally, Nielsen estimates that local TV news reaches 40 percent of viewers 25 to 54.
